The first meeting of Oman’s Shura Council’s second annual session is held.

In order to examine a number of reports and projects, the Shura Council Office called its first meeting of the tenth term (2023–2027) of the second annual session (2024–2025).
Muscat – The meeting, held under the chairmanship of H.E. Khalid bin Hilal Al Maawali, Chairman of the Council, covered a range of important topics, including the review of several reports from the standing committees and the discussion of ministerial responses to key issues raised by council members.
Among the key reports presented was the ‘Youth and Human Resources Committee’s’ review, which included updates on the development of shelters across the Sultanate of Oman. The ‘Public Services and Utilities Committee’ also provided a report regarding the expressed desire to prepare shelters, highlighting the need for adequate housing infrastructure in the country.
The ‘Health and Social Committee’ presented its evaluation of the annual reports for the year 2023 from the Ministry of Social Development and the Ministry of Health. This evaluation focused on the effectiveness of the ministry’s initiatives and services in addressing social welfare and healthcare needs. Additionally, the meeting saw the presentation of a message from the Chairman of the Public Services and Utilities Committee regarding the draft National Social Housing Plan, which is set to address the growing demand for affordable housing.
In addition to reviewing committee reports, the Shura Council Office discussed several important follow-up tools submitted by members. One of the key items included a request for a briefing from His Excellency the Minister of Labor on the statistics for new appointees in government agencies during 2024. The council also discussed the need to provide more outlets for selling Omani agricultural crops in commercial centers, aiming to support local farmers and improve the market reach for Omani produce.
The meeting was attended by H.E. Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Nadabi, Secretary-General of the Shura Council, and other members of the Council.
