The “Sultanate of Oman: Jewel of the Arabs” expedition will begin in London on Monday in an effort to commemorate and fortify the historical ties between the Sultanate of Oman and the United Kingdom.
MUSCAT : The event will be held under the honorary patronage of His Highness Sayyid Theyazin bin Haitham Al Said, Oman’s Minister of Culture, Sports, and Youth, and His Royal Highness Prince William, Prince of Wales.
Set to commence in January 2025, the expedition will retrace ancient Omani trade routes, beginning in Ras Al Hadd, South Al Sharqiyah Governorate, and journeying along the coast to Salalah in Dhofar Governorate. Spanning 30 days, it will engage Omani youth and participants from the UK in exploring cultural and natural heritage while promoting environmental sustainability.
This initiative also pays homage to the iconic 1928 journey of British explorer Bertram Thomas, the first European to traverse the Rub’ al Khali desert.
