To negotiate a ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah, a U.S. ambassador arrives in Beirut.

In order to further negotiations on a planned truce between Israel and Hezbollah, U.S. ambassador Amos Hochstein arrived in Beirut on Tuesday.
BEIRUT: According to Ali Hassan Khalil, a senior assistant to Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri, Hezbollah and the Lebanese government have given their preliminary assent to the ceasefire proposal, which was written by Washington and delivered in writing last week. Regarding the content of the plan, both parties have provided feedback. While continuing its military escalation against Israel, Iran-backed Hezbollah appointed Berri as the negotiator. Israel has not yet responded to the U.S. request in an official manner.
