Witness the International Space Station Cross Over Oman Tonight

Oman Horizon Bulletin

Muscat, February 3 – Stargazers and space enthusiasts in Oman are in for a celestial treat tonight as the International Space Station (ISS) makes a spectacular pass over the country’s skies. The Oman Astronomical Society (OAS) has announced that the ISS will be visible at 6:41 PM, traveling at an incredible speed of 27,600 km/h. The event will last for approximately six minutes, offering a rare opportunity to observe one of humanity’s most advanced space explorations in action.

How to Spot the ISS in Oman’s Skies

During its northwest-to-southeast trajectory, the ISS will be flying at an altitude of 421 km above Earth. To make the most of this viewing experience, OAS has shared the following tips for observers:
Find a dark, open space away from city lights to enhance visibility.
Prepare your phone or camera in advance to capture the breathtaking moment.
Look for a fast-moving, bright object resembling a star streaking across the sky.
Time your observation carefully, as the ISS will only be visible for a short duration.

The ISS, a symbol of international cooperation in space research, orbits Earth approximately 16 times a day. Tonight’s sighting offers a chance for residents across Oman to witness this marvel of human engineering as it briefly illuminates the night sky.
