Ibri Industrial City: An important center for business and investment in Oman
Oman Horizon Bulletin

Major infrastructure projects are already under way at Ibri Industrial City, an integrated industrial and logistical hub in the Al Dhahirah Governorate, which is seeing an increase in business prospects and investments.
Muscat: Ibri Industrial City, part of the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (Madayn), is emerging as a key player in Oman’s industrial and logistics sectors.
Spanning over 10 million square meters, Ibri Industrial City is ideally positioned about 150 kilometers from the Rub Al Khali port in Saudi Arabia and 180 kilometers from the Hafeet port in the UAE. The city’s proximity to these major transport hubs, combined with the abundance of natural resources in the region, such as gold, gypsum, marble, petroleum, and agricultural products, makes it an attractive destination for industries related to these resources.
According to Eng. Hamoud bin Mohammed Al Khalili, Director of Operations Department at Ibri Industrial City, the development of the city has been bolstered by an investment of RO 9 million from Madayn. This has allowed for the completion of the first phase of infrastructure development, covering 3 million square meters and providing essential services like roads, electricity, water, sewage, and lighting. The city, which officially opened in February 2024, now offers a comprehensive environment for business operations.
As of October 2024, the volume of investments in Ibri Industrial City has reached RO 19.6 million, with 15 projects underway or completed. These projects span more than 183,000 square meters, including a production facility already in operation, four projects under construction, and ten projects with land allocations in place.
One of the notable additions to the city’s infrastructure is the integrated station project, valued at RO 1.5 million. This facility will feature a fuel station, a rest stop, and services for trucks and cars aimed at supporting the businesses and workers within the city as well as travellers along the international road linking Oman to Saudi Arabia. Al Khalili emphasized that the city’s infrastructure has been fully completed, providing a seamless environment for businesses to flourish.
The creation of Ibri Industrial City is part of Oman’s broader strategy to attract and localize investments in various sectors, including food processing, manufacturing, petroleum, building materials, and light industries. With its proximity to major border crossings, the city is strategically positioned to act as a hub for manufacturing and logistics, serving as a vital link between Oman, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE.
