Oman Horizon Bulletin

Under the auspices of His Excellency the Governor of North Al Batinah, a three-day environmental camp was launched to highlight Oman’s biodiversity and natural beauty.

MUSCAT: The Environment Authority organized the event with the goal of increasing public awareness of environmental protection and wildlife preservation.

The first edition of the camp, hosted by the Environment Authority, highlights the “Feathered Animals Through the Lens of Environmental Pioneers” initiative. Speaking at the event, Nizar bin Salem Al Arimi, Director of the Environment Department in North Al Batinah, emphasized the importance of protecting Oman’s natural resources and promoting wildlife photography as a tool to inspire environmental awareness.

The camp features six interactive corners designed to educate and engage visitors. These include exhibits on Oman’s ecosystems and nature reserves, safe camping practices, and cutting-edge wildlife monitoring technologies such as drones and thermal imaging. Visitors can also explore displays of Oman’s reptiles, birds, and other fauna, complemented by an interactive section for children under 13, led by the “Sa’un” team, which focuses on building environmental awareness through hands-on activities.
