Oman Horizon Bulletin

LOS ANGELES, 3 Mar (ONA): No Other Land, a Palestinian-Israeli documentary exposing the struggles against community demolitions in the West Bank, has won Best Documentary at the 96th Academy Awards, marking Palestine’s first-ever Oscar win.
A Story of Resistance and Inequality
- The film follows Palestinian activist Basel Adra as he documents the destruction of his hometown, Masafer Yatta, an area designated for military training.
- Israeli journalist Yuval Abraham joins the project, helping Adra’s footage gain international attention.
- The documentary highlights the stark contrast in freedoms, as Adra faces movement restrictions, while Abraham, as an Israeli citizen, can travel freely.
A Landmark Win
- No Other Land won over Porcelain War, Sugarcane, Black Box Diaries, and Soundtrack to a Coup d’État.
- Filmed from 2019 to 2023, it offers a firsthand account of forced evictions and demolitions, bringing global awareness to the struggles of Palestinian communities.
