Blue Ghost Lander by US Firm Firefly Aerospace Successfully Touches Down on Moon

Washington, 2 Mar (ONA): In a historic milestone for private space exploration, Firefly Aerospace’s Blue Ghost lander has successfully touched down on the Moon, making it the second commercial lunar landing in history.
Mission Highlights
- Launched in January aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket from Cape Canaveral.
- Landed in Mare Crisium, a 500-km-wide lunar plain.
- Equipped with scientific instruments to conduct two weeks of experiments, including drilling for lunar samples and studying Sunset effects on Moon dust.
Part of NASA’s Lunar Exploration Plan
Both Blue Ghost and Nova-C (which landed in February 2024) are part of NASA’s Commercial Lunar Payload Services (CLPS) program, aimed at gathering data for future manned missions—the first since Apollo 17 in 1972.
