Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman has officially announced the working hours for both the public and private sectors during the holy month of Ramadan, 1446 AH. The schedule has been set to accommodate reduced working hours, ensuring a balance between productivity and observance of Ramadan.
Public Sector Working Hours
Government offices and units under the civil administrative apparatus will follow reduced working hours, operating for five continuous hours from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
However, heads of departments have the flexibility to introduce alternative schedules within the timeframe of 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, allowing adjustments based on operational needs and employee convenience.
Additionally, remote work will be permitted for employees whose roles allow it, but at least 50% of staff must be physically present in the workplace to ensure smooth operations.
Private Sector Working Hours
For private sector companies, Muslim employees will have their working hours reduced to six hours per day, with a maximum of 30 hours per week. This adjustment aims to support employees in maintaining a balance between work commitments and spiritual observances during Ramadan.
