Oman Horizon Bulletin

Muscat: The Royal Oman Police (ROP) has arrested 19 expatriates of Asian nationalities for violations related to labour laws, residency regulations, and human trafficking.
According to the ROP, the arrests were made as part of an operation carried out by the Directorate General of Inquiries and Criminal Investigation, in coordination with the Special Taskforce Unit in Seeb.
Labour and Residency Violations
Authorities apprehended six individuals for breaching labour and foreign residency laws. These individuals were found to be working or residing in Oman without proper documentation or in violation of their visa conditions.
Human Trafficking Arrests
In a more serious crackdown, 13 individuals were arrested for their involvement in human trafficking activities. The suspects were allegedly involved in luring women of different nationalities and coercing them into activities that violate public morals and ethical standards.
Ongoing Legal Proceedings
The ROP has confirmed that legal procedures against all arrested individuals are currently underway. Authorities continue to intensify efforts to combat human trafficking and enforce labour and immigration laws to maintain security and order in the Sultanate.
The police urged residents and expatriates to report any suspicious activities related to human trafficking or illegal employment through the official police hotline.
This operation underscores Oman’s commitment to upholding labour rights, preventing exploitation, and ensuring strict adherence to legal regulations within the country.
