South Al Batinah to Welcome Open-Air Cinema and Eco-Tourism Destination at Rimal Park

Muscat, February 12 – The South Al Batinah Governorate is set to boost its tourism and investment potential with the development of Rimal Park, an integrated eco-tourism destination that will feature an open-air cinema alongside a variety of recreational attractions.
A Unique Outdoor Cinema Experience
Located in Al Abyadh Sand, Wilayat of Nakhal, Rimal Park will offer visitors a one-of-a-kind cinematic experience under the stars. The 7,806 square meter open-air cinema area will have the capacity to accommodate up to 2,000 guests, allowing moviegoers to enjoy screenings in a spectacular natural setting.
Expansive Entertainment and Recreational Facilities
Beyond the cinema, Rimal Park spans 225,000 sqm and will feature a 24,814 sqm entertainment zone divided into five sections, catering to visitors of all ages. Key attractions will include:
- Camping units for those seeking an immersive outdoor experience.
- An equestrian school offering horseback riding lessons and experiences.
- Dedicated spaces for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to promote local businesses.
Strategically positioned near the main road linking Muscat to North Al Batinah, the park will be easily accessible for tourists and residents alike.
A Catalyst for Economic Growth
Masoud bin Saeed Al Hashimi, Governor of South Al Batinah, highlighted that Rimal Park represents a significant investment opportunity, set to enhance the region’s appeal as a top eco-tourism destination. The project is expected to attract both local and international visitors, providing a boost to Oman’s tourism sector.
With a total investment of approximately OMR 6.9 million, the park is aligned with Oman Vision 2040, focusing on sustainable tourism, economic diversification, and job creation. The initiative is projected to:
- Generate employment opportunities within the tourism and hospitality sectors.
- Support local businesses by offering commercial spaces for entrepreneurs.
- Promote eco-friendly tourism while preserving the region’s natural beauty.
