SEZAD Launches Duqm Now Forum to Drive Business Innovation and Investment
Oman Horizon Bulletin

Duqm, January 19 (ONA): The Special Economic Zone at Duqm (SEZAD) has introduced Duqm Now, a quarterly business forum designed to bring together industry leaders, decision-makers, and entrepreneurs to explore emerging opportunities and drive economic growth.
Supported by Duqm Quarries and the Development Bank, this unique platform moves beyond conventional networking by offering actionable insights, expert discussions, and strategic partnerships that transform ambitious ideas into successful business ventures.
Inaugural Session: Focus on Renewable Energy
The first Duqm Now session is set for January 29, 2025, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel Duqm. With Oman aiming to generate 30% of its electricity from renewable sources by 2030, this session will focus on the potential for businesses to leverage opportunities in the clean energy sector. A panel of renowned industry experts will discuss key trends, challenges, and investment prospects.
Over the past few years, investment in renewable energy infrastructure, power grids, and storage solutions has surged globally. In Europe, small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the renewable sector have reported an average annual revenue growth of 15%, driven by increasing market demand and government-backed incentives. SEZAD’s Integrated Energy Valley provides a strategic business ecosystem, offering the infrastructure, connectivity, and support services essential for both local and international companies to tap into the expanding clean energy market.
A Vision for Growth and Innovation
Eng. Ahmed Akaak, CEO of SEZAD, described Duqm Now as a carefully designed platform for learning, collaboration, and business expansion.
“Our goal is to provide industry leaders with valuable insights and practical strategies on key economic trends. Each session will introduce transformative ideas to help businesses enhance leadership, strengthen teams, and seize new market opportunities. More than standalone discussions, these forums will create a continuous learning experience, enabling attendees to apply knowledge in impactful ways.”
Eng. Ibrahim Al Hasni, Managing Director of Duqm Quarries, emphasized the forum’s potential to unlock new opportunities:
“Duqm Now is an investment in Oman’s business landscape. As part of the SEZAD ecosystem, we believe these quarterly events will empower companies of all sizes to explore fresh business directions, foster new partnerships, and capitalize on Duqm’s growth potential.”

Beyond the Forum: Networking and Knowledge Sharing
In addition to expert-led discussions, Duqm Now will facilitate business networking opportunities, allowing attendees to connect with peers, industry experts, and potential investors. To expand its reach, the forum will also introduce a dedicated podcast series, summarizing key insights and discussions, further positioning SEZAD as a premier hub for business innovation and investment.
Aligning with Oman Vision 2040
The Duqm Now initiative aligns with Oman Vision 2040, ensuring each session covers key economic and industrial advancements, including:
- Education-industry collaboration
- Circular economy practices
- Petrochemical sector developments
By fostering an entrepreneurial mindset and encouraging forward-thinking investment, SEZAD aims to strengthen its tenant community, attract global investors, and accelerate Oman’s economic transformation.
“Duqm Now is more than just a forum—it’s a strategic initiative designed to connect innovators, business leaders, and policymakers to drive meaningful growth in Oman,” concluded Eng. Akaak.
