Foreign investment records in North Al Batinah, Oman, have increased by 183%.

Foreign investment in North Al Batinah Governorate has increased dramatically in the first half of 2024, with commercial records rising by 183%.

Muscat: The Directorate General of Commerce, Industry, and Investment Promotion in North Al Batinah has been instrumental in this success, offering 26 promising investment opportunities in key sectors, such as industry, food security, petrochemicals, and minerals. These opportunities, valued at RO 83 million, come equipped with comprehensive economic feasibility studies, available to both local and foreign investors.

Ali bin Khalfan Al Ghaithi, Director General of the Directorate, noted that the governorate’s investment environment is not only appealing but strategically poised for future growth. He emphasized that, in addition to the rise in commercial records, North Al Batinah has also seen a 25% increase in overall commercial activity, with 2,624 commercial records logged in the first half of 2024.

The governorate also achieved significant strides in industrial licensing, with a record 5,529 industrial license applications, up 85.2% from 2023. The total capital invested across all sectors is estimated at approximately RO 1.7 billion. This, coupled with a 12,456-strong issuance of certificates of origin, underscores the ongoing transformation of North Al Batinah into an investment powerhouse.

Al Ghaithi shared that the Directorate processed over 112,000 transactions, including 92,000 via the Oman Business Platform. Additionally, the area’s infrastructure has been further enhanced, including significant updates in product testing and calibration services, with over 220 samples tested in laboratories and 481 scale calibrations completed.
