Oman’s Dakhiliyah Governorate Launches RO 7.7 Million Development and AI Projects

Muscat – In a significant move to boost infrastructure, tourism, and economic growth, Oman’s Al Dakhiliyah Governorate has signed a series of agreements worth over RO 7.7 million for development, service, and artificial intelligence (AI) projects. The initiatives aim to enhance the region’s facilities while preserving its cultural heritage and promoting sustainable development.
The agreements were formalized by His Excellency Sheikh Hilal bin Saeed Al Hajri, Governor of Al Dakhiliyah, alongside representatives from various implementing companies. Among the key projects is the construction of internal roads across several wilayats, including a 13-kilometer road in Samayil, a 20.5-kilometer road in Izki, a 16.6-kilometer road in Adam, and an 11-kilometer stretch in Bahla. These infrastructure upgrades are expected to improve connectivity and accessibility for residents and visitors alike.
In addition to road development, the governorate is focusing on enhancing tourism infrastructure. A major project includes the revitalization of the area surrounding the historic Jabreen Fort in Bahla. Plans involve expanding parking facilities and developing the entrance to the fort while preserving its architectural integrity. Similarly, the ‘Basya’ entrance and the road leading to the Salut Archaeological Center will be upgraded to attract more tourists while maintaining the region’s cultural identity.
Another notable initiative is the construction of a health walkway in the Wilayat of Izki, a collaborative effort with Oman Oil Development Company. The 1,000-meter-long and 5-meter-wide walkway will feature dedicated paths for walking and cycling, promoting a healthy lifestyle among residents.
The agreements also highlight the integration of advanced technologies, with a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed to utilize AI and drone systems for project monitoring and management. This innovative approach will improve the accuracy of progress tracking and ensure the timely completion of all projects.
His Excellency Sheikh Hilal Al Hajri emphasized that these projects align with the governorate’s commitment to improving the quality of life for its residents, supporting the local economy, and meeting the needs of citizens through sustainable and forward-thinking development.
These initiatives underscore Al Dakhiliyah Governorate’s dedication to fostering growth while preserving its rich cultural heritage. By combining infrastructure development with cutting-edge technology, the region is poised to become a model for balanced and innovative progress in Oman.
