GCC Secretary-General Commends Oman’s Mediation in Galaxy Leader Crew Release

Riyadh, 23 Jan (ONA) – Jasem Mohamed Al Budaiwi, Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), has praised the Sultanate of Oman for its diplomatic mediation, which successfully led to the release of the Galaxy Leader ship’s crew.
The crew, consisting of 25 members from various nationalities, had been detained near the Yemeni coast since November 2023. Through Oman’s dedicated diplomatic efforts, their release was secured, demonstrating the country’s unwavering commitment to humanitarian and regional stability.
Al Budaiwi emphasized that Oman’s role in this mediation reflects its strong dedication to regional security and its continuous efforts to promote peaceful conflict resolution. He also highlighted Oman’s ongoing contributions to strengthening international cooperation in the Red Sea region, ensuring stability, and reducing tensions.
The GCC Secretary-General expressed gratitude for Oman’s diplomatic initiatives, reaffirming the importance of collaboration among regional nations to maintain peace and security in the region.
