Indian External Affairs Minister Jaishankar Meets UAE President to Strengthen Strategic Partnership

Abu Dhabi, January 30 – India’s External Affairs Minister (EAM) Dr. S. Jaishankar met with UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan during his official visit to the Emirates. He conveyed warm greetings from Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and discussed the continued progress of the India-UAE Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
High-Level Meetings to Enhance Bilateral Ties
Following his meeting with the UAE President, Jaishankar also met Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The two leaders reflected on the Crown Prince’s recent visit to India and discussed ways to deepen economic and diplomatic ties between the two nations.
“Pleased to meet Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi HH Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Recalled his recent visit to India and discussed further advancement of India-UAE partnership,” Jaishankar shared in a social media post.
Strengthening Diplomatic Relations
Jaishankar also engaged in discussions with Anwar Gargash, Diplomatic Advisor to the UAE President. The meeting centered on enhancing collaboration in trade, investment, and regional security, reinforcing the importance of the India-UAE relationship in global affairs.
“Nice to meet Anwar Gargash, Diplomatic Advisor to the President, UAE, this morning. Discussed our special partnership and its further progress,” Jaishankar stated.
As part of his official engagements, the Indian minister addressed the inaugural session of the Raisina Middle East conference in Abu Dhabi, emphasizing India’s vision for stronger regional partnerships.
A Long-Standing and Evolving Relationship
Jaishankar’s visit, spanning from January 27 to 29, highlights India’s commitment to deepening its partnership with the UAE, a relationship that has flourished since the two countries established diplomatic ties in 1972. The UAE opened its first embassy in India in the same year, followed by India’s embassy in the UAE in 1973. Over the decades, these ties have expanded into a multifaceted partnership covering trade, energy, defense, and cultural exchanges.
Jaishankar’s visit reaffirms both nations’ dedication to strengthening cooperation across key sectors and further solidifying the India-UAE Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for mutual growth and prosperity.
