In Muscat, the Ministry of Economy holds a workshop on sustainable governorate development.

A workshop on the sustainable development of governorates and cities was held in Muscat by the Ministry of Economy.

Muscat – The event aimed to enhance the involvement of governorates in preparing the 11th Five-Year Development Plan (2026-2030) and the second executive plan for Oman Vision 2040.

The session brought together key stakeholders to discuss the current status of sustainable development priorities from the perspective of the governorates. Topics included identifying the challenges they face and exploring appropriate solutions for sustainable urban and regional development.

The outcomes of the workshop are expected to play a pivotal role in shaping the strategic programmes that will be prioritised in the Eleventh Five-Year Development Plan, with an emphasis on improving the infrastructure, economy, and overall development of the governorates.

The workshop was officially opened by H.E. Dr. Saeed bin Mohammed Al Saqri, Minister of Economy and Chairman of the Supervisory Committee of the Eleventh Five-Year Plan. The session was attended by members of the Supervisory Committee, representatives from all governorates, municipal councils, government and private institutions, as well as civil society organizations and central technical teams involved in the plan.

It is pertinent to note that 14 central technical teams, comprising 278 members from around 70 government and private entities, civil society institutions, as well as academics and entrepreneurs, have been formed to contribute to the preparation of the Eleventh Five-Year Development Plan (2026-2030).
