Oman reiterated its dedication to defending women’s rights at a high-level gathering commemorating the 25th anniversary of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.
Muscat – The statement, delivered by Miysaa Alshibli, First Secretary at Oman’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations, called for decisive global action to protect women from violence, particularly in conflict zones.
The event coincided with the launch of the UNiTE campaign (November 25 – December 10), part of 16 days of activism leading up to International Human Rights Day on December 10. This year’s campaign, ‘Every 10 Minutes, a Woman is Killed. #NoExcuse,’ highlights the urgent need to address the rising violence against women and calls for accountability from global decision-makers.
