With more than 1,000 competitors, Oman will organize the fifth Himam Trail Race.

The fifth edition of the Himam Trail Run Race will be held in four wilayats in the Al Dakhiliyah Governorate from December 5–7, 2024, according to the race’s organizing committee.

Muscat More than 1,000 runners from all over the world are anticipated to attend the event, which is organized in partnership with the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Youth, and the Al Dakhiliyah Governorate.

The Himam Trail Run Race has become a prominent sporting event in the region, drawing participants from over 65 countries, with more than 40 percent of the runners coming from outside the Sultanate of Oman. This surge in international participation highlights the growing significance of the race on the global sporting calendar.

The race will feature three primary tracks, with distances of 110 km, 55 km, and 20 km, designed to challenge the endurance and mental strength of participants. The runners will navigate through the mountainous terrain of Nizwa, Izki, Al Hamra, and Jabal Akhdar, where they will encounter spectacular landscapes of valleys, mountains, and green farms, providing an exceptional experience for all.
In addition to the main race, the event will host sub-races on December 6 and 7, with distances ranging from one to ten kilometres. These races are aimed at participants of all ages, including school students, promoting inclusivity and encouraging wider community involvement. There will also be an exhibition for small and medium enterprises, further enhancing the event’s social impact.

The Himam Trail Run Race also aims to promote sports tourism and support the local economy. The event is expected to attract a significant number of visitors and athletes, boosting tourism in Oman while offering temporary job opportunities and stimulating commercial activity in the host wilayats.
