Oman’s students took part in the 2024 Annual Student Art Show (ASAS), one of the biggest youth art shows in the Gulf, which took place at Study World Campus in Dubai from November 9–10.
MUSCAT : Themed ‘Art and Innovation,’ the event attracted over 1,000 students from 50 nationalities, showcasing creative works that explored the intersection of art, culture, and technological progress.
The event was organized by Funun Arts Group’s Shiba Khan and Farah Khan, along with Khan Ayaan Abdulla and Mohd. Huzaifa Khan of Youth Creative Minds Hub. This year marked the second consecutive participation of students from Oman, who exhibited innovative artworks guided by Dr. Hafsa Banu, a renowned art mentor.
Over a thousand students from 50 different nationalities showcased their artwork. 35 global mentors, 15 youth ambassadors and over 50 youth volunteers were involved in the event. It explored the theme ‘Art and Innovation’ for students in the 5-25 age group. The event celebrated the UAE’s 2031 vision and its emphasis on innovation.
The exhibition featured 30 artworks from students of Indian School Muscat CSE (special needs) and other individual participation from schools like American British Academy, Sri Lankan School Muscat and Indian School Al Ghubra. A standout achievement was the second-place global award won by Pranavi Sridharan from Grade 12 at Indian School Muscat. Omani participants, including Haniya Eira Khan and Yusra Adil Shaik, also attended masterclasses and workshops on sustainable art.
The exhibition was honoured by dignitaries such as Abdul Jabbar Weiss, Sultana Kazim, and other prominent figures. Dr. Hafsa Banu also shared her insights on balancing passion and profession during a panel discussion.
The students’ artworks will be displayed at Waterfront in Muscat, until November 24, 2024.
