Google Maps is extending its reporting features to include inclement weather in order to better assist drivers.
Washington: Beginning next month, Google Maps will roll out improved navigation tools as part of a major update designed to make driving in cities more enjoyable.
According to The Verge, this enhancement will show crucial components like crosswalks, traffic signs, and lane limitations in addition to visually indicating the correct lane for approaching turns.
Users in 30 U.S. cities will be able to take advantage of this cutting-edge functionality on the iOS and Android platforms starting in November.
In addition to current features like lane guiding and 3D route visualization, the improved navigation is intended to reduce the anxiety associated with driving in strange environments.
Google Maps is also improving its “destination guiding” feature in tandem with these upgrades.
Users will see enhancements this week that indicate building entrances, highlight their destination, and offer details about adjacent parking lots.
The Verge also reports that the app will also provide walking directions to building entrances and parking location reminders.
Google Maps is extending its reporting features to include inclement weather in order to better assist drivers.
By warning users of possible dangers like poor vision, fog, snow, unplowed roads, and flooding, this new feature will make traveling in bad weather safer.
In addition to these navigational improvements, Google is adding more AI capabilities to the app to help users find new locations.
According to The Verge, Waze, a navigation service owned by Google, is testing voice-activated incident reporting to give drivers better real-time updates.
Google Maps has seen a flurry of major updates in recent months, including the use of AI to compile evaluations for EV chargers and to offer personalized dining and attraction recommendations.
Users should anticipate a more user-friendly and educational navigating experience soon as Google continues to improve and broaden its mapping offerings. (ANI)
