During the League of Arab States summit, Oman strongly denounced Israel’s activities intended to undermine UNRWA’s humanitarian efforts in the occupied Palestinian territory.
CAIRO: Oman’s Permanent Representative to the League, His Excellency Ambassador Al Rahbi, emphasized Oman’s adamant opposition to Israeli actions that target the work of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), highlighting the organization’s vital role in easing Palestinian suffering in the midst of ongoing hostilities.
The envoy pointed out the growing number of Palestinian civilian casualties, including women, children, and the elderly, and cautioned against recent actions by the Israeli Knesset to “legitimize the condemnation of UNRWA.” He denounced these acts as egregious disdain for international norms and the UN, and said they were part of a “long line of Israeli abuses of international and humanitarian law.”
The formation of a united Arab reaction to the new unlawful measures passed by the Israeli Knesset that limit UNRWA’s operations in Palestinian territory was another topic of discussion at the League’s headquarters.
