Muscat – Ministry of Health, in collaboration with Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, will host the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) World Congress 2024 from Tuesday to Thursday.

Themed ‘Transforming Women’s Healthcare Through Global Collaboration’, the congress will bring together global experts to share innovations and expertise in women’s health.

Taking place at Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre, the congress places networking at the forefront, offering global healthcare professionals in women’s health a unique opportunity to share the latest innovations, collaborate with colleagues, and engage in a diverse programme featuring leading experts and new research.

The RCOG World Congress is one of the largest international gatherings in the field, featuring over 2,142 doctors and experts from 88 countries.

The event will cover 29 topics related to women’s health and childbirth, and include 800 lectures delivered by 169 doctors from abroad and 36 Omani specialists. The first day will include eight practical sessions focused on surgical procedures relevant to women’s health.

Khalid bin Waleed al Zadjali, Director of the Oman Office for Conferences at Ministry of Heritage and Tourism (MHT), said, “Hosting this major medical event is a significant achievement for the health sector in Oman. It offers a valuable opportunity to engage with international experts and exchange knowledge, ultimately contributing to the advancement of women’s healthcare and reinforcing Oman’s status as a regional hub for medical conferences.”

He informed that MHT, along with its partners, successfully held eight regional and international conferences in the first half of 2024. “Efforts are ongoing to secure additional international conferences in the near future, recognising their positive economic impact on Oman’s tourism and economic sectors.”
