Dhofar’s winter tourism is a popular time of year for tourists from around the globe.

March 16 (ONA), Salalah — The Dhofar Governorate is also well-known for its distinctive tourism diversity throughout the winter months. Travelers from all over the world, particularly from European nations, flock to the area during this season.
Every year, organized tour groups from a variety of nations, including Germany, France, Italy, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, and Switzerland, visit the Dhofar Governorate. The Museum of the Land of Frankincense, the ancient forts in Taqah and Mirbat, and the archeological sites in Al Baleed, Sumhuram, and Al Shisr are popular tourist destinations. They also like to explore the natural features like the Jabal Samhan Reserve, which is a popular tourist destination, and traditional markets like the Gold and Silver Souk.
Along with water sports like diving and kayaking, adventure seekers can also take part in a variety of sports like sandboarding, mountain biking, and free walking.
Winter desert tourism, which is popular with international visitors, stretches from the Al Shisr region with its captivating sand dunes and magnificent sunset vistas to Wadi Dokah in the Wilayat of Thumrait, which includes the frankincense tree reserve. Travelers can experience Bedouin life, ride camels, and consume camel milk. From the Al Hashman Sands to Ramlat Jadhila in the Niyabat of Mitin in the Wilayat of Al Mazyouna, the sand dunes extend over the desert regions of the Dhofar Governorate.
“The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism is working to position Dhofar Governorate on the regional and international tourism map throughout the seasons and to intensify promotional programs during the winter season, considering it an ideal tourist destination in global markets,” stated the General of Heritage and Tourism in Dhofar Governorate.
