Kampala, 2 Mar (ONA): A 4-year-old child has become the second fatality in Uganda’s ongoing Ebola outbreak, the World Health Organization (WHO) confirmed. This marks a setback in efforts to contain the virus, which emerged in January 2025.
Efforts to Contain the Virus
- The child was hospitalized at Kampala’s main referral facility and died last Tuesday.
- WHO stated that response teams are intensifying surveillance and contact tracing to curb further spread.
- No approved vaccine exists for the Sudan strain of Ebola, making early detection and containment crucial.
Authorities continue to monitor potential cases as Uganda battles to prevent a wider outbreak.
