Interior Minister Engages in High-Level Talks with Arab Counterparts on Security Cooperation

Tunis, 16 Feb (ONA) – Sayyid Hamoud bin Faisal Al Busaidi, Minister of Interior, engaged in a series of discussions with his Arab counterparts on the sidelines of the 42nd session of the Arab Interior Ministers Council, held in Tunisia. The meetings focused on strengthening security collaboration and addressing regional challenges.

During his discussions with Lieutenant General Abdul Amir Kamel Al-Shammari, Iraq’s Minister of Interior, both leaders examined key security issues and explored avenues for enhancing cooperation to counter evolving regional and global threats. They underscored the importance of intelligence sharing and joint efforts in combating organized crime and terrorism.

Sayyid Hamoud also met with Ziad Hab Al-Reeh, Minister of Interior of the State of Palestine. Their talks revolved around developments in security-related matters and strategies to bolster bilateral relations in law enforcement and crime prevention. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to collaborative efforts in maintaining stability and security in the region.

In a separate meeting with Ahmad Hajjar, Lebanon’s Minister of Interior and Municipalities, Sayyid Hamoud discussed key aspects of joint Arab security initiatives. The discussions also covered topics outlined in the official agenda of the 42nd Arab Interior Ministers Council session, with an emphasis on regional security policies and counter-terrorism strategies.

Additionally, the Omani Minister met with Abdullahi Sheikh Ismail, Somalia’s Minister of Internal Security, to exchange views on mutual security concerns. The discussions highlighted the need for collective measures in tackling emerging security threats and fostering a more secure and stable Arab region.

Throughout these meetings, Sayyid Hamoud reiterated Oman’s commitment to strengthening joint Arab security initiatives and fostering deeper cooperation among Arab nations. He emphasized the need for sustained collaboration to counter security challenges and maintain regional stability.

The 42nd Arab Interior Ministers Council session serves as a vital platform for Arab nations to unify efforts in tackling security challenges, enhancing intelligence cooperation, and ensuring a coordinated approach to law enforcement across the region.
