Jordan Welcomes Record 1.32 Million GCC Visitors in 2024, Marking 15% Growth

Amman, February 2024 – Jordan has set a new tourism record, attracting over 1.32 million overnight visitors from Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries in 2024. This marks a 15% increase compared to 1.15 million visitors in 2023, reinforcing Jordan’s position as a top travel destination for GCC tourists, according to the Jordan Tourism Board (JTB).
GCC Tourists Extend Stay in Jordan
The latest data reveals a significant rise in the average length of stay among GCC travelers, indicating a growing preference for longer and more immersive trips. This trend was particularly noticeable during summer months and major holidays, with many visitors exploring multiple destinations across Jordan.
Dr. Abdelrazzak Arabiyat, Managing Director of JTB, stated:
“The strong visitor numbers in 2024 highlight Jordan’s strategic focus on the GCC market. The increasing number of travelers and extended stays reflect the deep cultural and tourism ties between Jordan and Gulf nations.”
Saudi Arabia Leads GCC Arrivals
Saudi Arabia remained the largest source market, with 1.158 million overnight visitors in 2024, reflecting a 17% increase from 985,904 visitors in 2023. The peak travel months, July and August, saw 156,400 and 141,007 Saudi tourists, respectively, emphasizing Jordan’s growing reputation as an ideal summer retreat with its diverse landscapes and moderate highland climate.
Other GCC Markets Show Strong Growth
- Kuwait ranked as the second-largest GCC market, contributing 72,784 visitors.
- The UAE recorded 18,378 visitors, marking an 11% increase from 16,491 in 2023.
- Qatar accounted for 16,081 visitors, while Bahrain and Oman brought 34,309 and 22,716 visitors, respectively.
- Oman’s visitor numbers surged by 12%, reflecting growing interest in Jordan’s attractions.
Jordan’s Rising Popularity Among GCC Travelers
The consistent growth in GCC arrivals underscores Jordan’s success in promoting itself as a preferred travel destination. With historical sites, adventure tourism, and luxury experiences, the country continues to attract Gulf visitors seeking unique and enriching travel experiences.
