Private Jet Collision at Scottsdale Airport, Arizona, Leaves One Dead and Several Injured

Oman Horizon Bulletin

Arizona, US: A tragic aviation accident occurred at Scottsdale Municipal Airport on Monday, February 10, when two private jets collided on the runway, resulting in one fatality and multiple injuries, according to officials.

Details of the Incident

The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) reported that a Learjet 35A veered off the runway after landing and crashed into a Gulfstream 200 business jet on the airport ramp at approximately 2:45 p.m. local time (2145 GMT).

Scottsdale Fire Department Captain Dave Folio confirmed that at least four individuals sustained injuries in the accident. Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene to provide medical aid and manage the situation.

Casualties and Rescue Efforts

Among the injured, two victims were transported to trauma centers, while another individual in stable condition was taken to a local hospital.

One passenger remained trapped inside one of the aircraft, prompting an urgent rescue effort. “We are doing everything we can to extricate and save the one soul still on board,” Folio stated.

The FAA has temporarily halted flights at Scottsdale Municipal Airport as authorities continue their investigation. The agency has yet to determine the cause of the Learjet’s deviation from the runway and is conducting a thorough examination of the incident.

Scottsdale Airport and Recent Aviation Accidents

Scottsdale Municipal Airport is a well-known hub for private jets, particularly during high-profile events in the Phoenix area.

This crash adds to a series of recent aviation accidents in the United States over the past two weeks:

  • In late January, a passenger jet collided midair with a US Army Black Hawk helicopter over Washington, D.C., resulting in 67 fatalities.
  • A medical jet crash in Philadelphia claimed seven lives just days later.
  • A separate plane crash in Alaska last week left 10 people dead.

The FAA and National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are leading investigations into these incidents to enhance aviation safety and prevent similar tragedies.
