Oman’s Football Community Mourns the Passing of Former National Player Abdul Salam Amer

Muscat, 22 Jan (ONA) — Oman’s football fraternity is grieving the loss of Abdul Salam Amer Al Mukhaini, a former national team and Dhofar Club player, who passed away at the age of 37.
Abdul Salam’s journey with the Oman national team began in 2009, during which he earned 70 international caps. He played a pivotal role in major tournaments, including the Asian Cup qualifiers, World Cup qualifiers, and the Arabian Gulf Cup.
Throughout his career, he also represented several top clubs across the GCC region, including Kuwait Club, Saudi Arabia’s Al Raed FC, and the UAE’s FC Baniyas. In Oman, he played for Al-Orouba and Dhofar, achieving numerous titles. His most recent triumph was lifting the Oman Super Cup on 14 January 2025.
His contributions to Omani football will be remembered, and his passing is a significant loss to the sports community.
