Snap Inc. Unveils SnapGen AI for High-Resolution Image Creation on Smartphones

Washington, January 6 (ONA) – Snap Inc. has introduced SnapGen, an advanced AI-powered image generator designed to create high-resolution images directly on high-end smartphones. This innovation allows users to bypass the need for extensive computing power, bringing efficient and convenient image generation to mobile devices.

SnapGen stands out for its compact and highly efficient design. With only 379 million parameters, it is significantly smaller than popular AI models like SDXL, which has over 2.5 billion parameters, and even Huawei’s PixArt-, another lightweight model optimized for mobile use.

This lean design not only reduces storage requirements but also enhances performance. Tests have revealed that SnapGen outperforms other models in matching text descriptions with generated images, scoring an impressive 0.66 compared to SDXL’s 0.55. Furthermore, SnapGen can produce a high-resolution 1024×1024 pixel image in just 1.4 seconds on an iPhone 16 Pro Max.
