The International Association of Insurance Supervisors (IAIS) has its annual general meeting in South Africa, and the Financial Services Authority of Oman attends.
SOUTH AFRICA: The gathering focused on charting the strategic course for 2025-2029, with key discussions addressing pressing issues like climate change risks and their impact on the insurance sector. Participants examined international standards related to climate change and recommended regulatory bodies adopt these benchmarks while identifying gaps in existing laws.
The Authority also participated in the IAIS Implementation and Evaluation Committee meetings.
On the sidelines, bilateral meetings with global counterparts explored topics of mutual interest, fostering stronger international cooperation.
This year’s conference was themed “Licence to operate: the role of insurance in supporting societal resilience.”
