Today, the English translation of the late Muhammad Ghulam Muhiuddin bin Abdul Aziz’s memoir, My Journey Under the Sultans of Wisdom, was unveiled during a historic occasion held at the National Museum.

MUSCAT : The ceremony was held under the patronage of His Excellency Sayyid Saud bin Hilal bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Governor of Muscat.

Dr. Tariq Muhiuddin Muhammad Ghulam, son of the late author, highlighted the significance of the book, saying, “The idea of the book began in 2016 to document an important era in Oman’s history, and since then, the author has devoted his time to research, composition and writing.”

The memoir provides a rich narrative spanning the 1950s to the 1990s, chronicling transformative moments in Oman’s history. Through personal accounts, it delves into the leadership of Sultan Said bin Taimur and Sultan Qaboos bin Said and diplomatic achievements during the author’s 35-year tenure at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

A visual presentation during the event spotlighted the book’s archival photos and key themes, showcasing Muscat’s cultural evolution and the author’s role in strengthening Oman’s international relations.

Initially published in Arabic in June 2020, the English version adds a new dimension to the Omani cultural library. The memoir is expected to serve as a vital resource for researchers, historians, and young Omanis seeking to understand their country’s modern history.

“The greatest thing the author did with this book was his vision, which represented a bridge that connects the younger generations to the magnitude of the important events that the Sultanate of Oman went through during an earlier period in its history. Those moments have now been recorded in this book, in the hope that they will be a source of inspiration for future generations,” he said.
