Oman Horizon Bulletin

With the participation of 19 countries, the sixth edition of the Oman AgroFood, the Trade Exhibition for Agriculture, Food and Fisheries, kicked off at the Oman Convention & Exhibition Centre.

Muscat – Held under the patronage of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, the event, which will run until December 4, 2024, aims to support innovation and adopt the latest technologies in agriculture, fisheries and food, as well as products and services in various sectors.
This event aims to unite government decision-makers, international stakeholders, regional buyers, traders, and innovative technology providers. Through fostering collaboration, it seeks to actualize the Sultanate’s ambitious vision for transformative advancements and sustainable growth, specifically in the agriculture, food, and fisheries industries.

It is pertinent to note that Oman, through the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Water Resources, is actively promoting research and development in agriculture to enhance food security. Initiatives include the establishment of Oman Seed Bank to preserve local crop seeds and provide farmers with improved varieties; Oman Plant Protection Center to conduct research on pests and offer training in pest management; and the Oman Agricultural Research Center to develop sustainable farming practices, including water-conserving irrigation and drought-resistant crops.
