Oman Horizon Bulletin

According to the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs (MERA), there has been no sighting of the crescent moon on Jumada al-Akhirah 1446 AH.

Muscat – Consequently, Monday, December 2, 2024, will mark the last day of Jumada al-Awwal, and Tuesday, December 3, 2024, will be the first day of Jumada al-Akhirah.

In a statement released last night, the ministry explained that astronomical calculations had confirmed that the crescent moon of Jumada al-Akhirah would appear on the 29th of Jumada al-Awwal, corresponding to December 1, 2024, before sunset in most areas of the Sultanate of Oman. However, it will be impossible to observe the crescent moon on that day due to its timing, making it scientifically unfeasible to confirm the start of the new month.

The Ministry emphasized the importance of adhering to scientific facts and declared that Monday, December 2, 2024, will complete the month of Jumada al-Awwal, and Tuesday, December 3, 2024, will usher in the new month of Jumada al-Akhirah.
