MUSCAT : Oman Electricity Transmission Company (OETC) is proud to announce its recognition as one of the standout National Winners at the prestigious MEED Projects Awards 2024. This recognition highlights OETC’s continuous commitment to innovation, sustainability, and excellence in the energy sector.

The MEED Projects Awards are among the most prestigious honors in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, celebrating exceptional projects and organizations that demonstrate outstanding leadership and vision. This recognition reflects the pivotal role OETC plays in developing the region’s energy infrastructure and providing world-class electricity transmission solutions.

This year’s awards saw the participation of 83 projects across 18 categories, covering key sectors such as energy, construction, industry, transport, and water. National Winners were selected through a rigorous evaluation process, and the winners were honored at an official ceremony held on 20th November 2024.

The “Rabt” Project’s first phase demonstrates OETC’s commitment to establishing robust and efficient energy infrastructure. It is one of the company’s largest strategic projects, with a total cost exceeding OMR 183 million for the first phase. This phase includes five grid stations and 400 kV overhead transmission lines extending over 670 kilometers, which have already been successfully operationalized. The second phase, currently underway, involves the construction of three Grid stations and 400 kV transmission lines extending over 550 kilometers. The project aims to connect the electricity networks of northern and southern Oman.

On this milestone, Eng. Saleh Al Rumhi, OETC CEO, emphasized the importance of the project, stating: “We are honored to receive the MEED Projects Award 2024. This recognition reflects our team’s continuous efforts and innovative spirit in achieving more milestones. This achievement motivates us to further contribute to advancing the electricity transmission sector and promoting sustainable development”.

OETC’s success at the MEED Projects Awards underscores its crucial contribution to the development of energy infrastructure in Oman. This accomplishment aligns with the company’s vision of establishing a world-class smart transmission grid by 2030.

It is worth mentioning that OETC, a member of Nama Group, is the only company responsible for the transmission and control of electricity across the Sultanate’s network. The electricity is transmitted from production stations to distributed load centers in the governorates. The transmission network operates at a voltage of 132kV and above to cover the governorates in the Sultanate, whether in the north or the south. Furthermore, OETC manages the interconnection lines between Oman and the GCC interconnection network, which operates at a voltage of 220kV
