
The Sultanate of Oman attended the 21st meeting of the Gulf Cooperation Council’s (GCC) Joint Defense Council, which was hosted in Qatar.
Muscat – The meeting, which brought together the defence ministers of the GCC member states, aimed to discuss key military issues and enhance regional defence cooperation.
The Omani delegation was led by His Highness Sayyid Shihab bin Tariq Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for Defence Affairs.
The meeting discussed a spectrum of topics on the agenda of the 21st session which were submitted by the Supreme Military Committee of GCC Chiefs of Staff. It also highlighted several achievements and outcomes in the joint military fields.
The session underscored the importance of continued coordination and joint military efforts in line with the strategic objectives of the GCC leaders.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the defence ministers emphasized the need to maintain and enhance military cooperation between member states, recognizing it as vital for the region’s security and stability. Several key decisions and recommendations were made during the session, which will be presented to the Supreme Council of the GCC leaders for further consideration.
During the meeting, HH Sayyid Shihab was accompanied by Vice Admiral Abdullah Khamis Al Raisi, Chief of Staff of the Sultan’s Armed Forces and several SAF senior officers.
