WhatsApp Testing Multi-Account Feature for iOS Users, Allowing Multiple Accounts on One Device

Oman Horizon Bulletin

Washington, January 27 – WhatsApp, the globally popular messaging platform owned by Meta, is reportedly working on a multi-account feature for iOS users. According to a report from WABetaInfo, the latest WhatsApp beta update for iOS introduces the ability to add and switch between multiple accounts on a single device.

This long-awaited functionality will allow users to manage personal and work accounts from the same iPhone without needing to log out and back in. Previously, this feature was only available on Android devices, but now WhatsApp is expanding its multi-account support to iOS, a move that could significantly enhance user convenience.

How the Multi-Account Feature Works

With this new feature, users will be able to add, manage, and switch between multiple WhatsApp accounts seamlessly within the app. The update introduces two methods for adding a new account:

  1. Setting Up a Primary Account – Users can create a new account from scratch by registering a different phone number.
  2. Linking a Secondary Account via QR Code – Users can scan a QR code to add an existing WhatsApp account as a companion account, similar to how WhatsApp Web functions.

Once an additional account is added, users can easily switch between accounts without logging out. Each account will maintain separate chat histories, notifications, and privacy settings, ensuring a smooth and independent experience.

Availability and Rollout

As of now, the multi-account feature is available exclusively for beta testers using Apple’s TestFlight program, where WhatsApp rolls out experimental features before a public release. If testing is successful, it is expected that the feature will be introduced to all iOS users in a future update.

Why This Feature Matters

The ability to manage multiple accounts on one device has been one of the most requested features among WhatsApp users, especially for business professionals, freelancers, and individuals managing separate personal and work conversations. By offering this functionality, WhatsApp is catching up with other messaging apps like Telegram, which already support multiple accounts on a single device.

Final Thoughts

This update marks a significant improvement in WhatsApp’s usability on iOS. With its continued focus on enhancing user experience, Meta is ensuring that WhatsApp remains competitive in the ever-evolving messaging space. While an official release date has not been confirmed, iOS users can expect this feature to roll out in the coming months as WhatsApp continues refining its functionality.
