HH Sayyid Theyazin Highlights Government-Citizen Dialogue as Key to Decision-Making

Muscat: HH Sayyid Theyazin bin Haitham Al Said, Minister of Culture, Sports, and Youth, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to fostering dialogue with citizens to shape policies and decisions that impact society.
Speaking at the third session of the “Together We Progress” Forum, focused on “Culture, Sports, and Youth,” HH Sayyid Theyazin emphasized the importance of collaboration with the Ministry of Education to nurture young talents from an early age. He highlighted ongoing efforts to support individuals excelling in cultural and sports fields.
A key focus of the session was the development of an integrated sports city, with a central stadium that will position Oman as a hub for hosting regional and international tournaments.
HH Sayyid Theyazin also noted the success of the Military Discipline Programme, which saw participation from nearly 700 students in 2024. He described it as an enriching initiative designed to equip young individuals with essential life skills.
During the session, senior officials shared insights on various initiatives:
- Sayyid Said Sultan Al Busaidi, Undersecretary for Culture, outlined plans to maximize opportunities in the cultural sector through strategic studies.
- Basil Ahmed Al Rowas, Undersecretary for Sports and Youth, detailed updates to the Omani sports strategy, focusing on governance, community engagement, and sports economy.
Discussions also addressed employment and professional development in Oman, with the participation of Dr. Mahad Said Ba’owin, Minister of Labour, and other key officials. They highlighted efforts to bridge skill gaps in the workforce through training programs, digital incubators, and the “Tawteen” platform, which connects job seekers with potential employers.
The session further covered social protection policies, with insights from Eng. Salem Nasser Al Aufi, Minister of Energy and Minerals, and Dr. Faisal Abdullah Al Farsi, CEO of the Social Protection Fund. They revealed that over 1.47 million individuals are currently benefiting from the fund’s initiatives.
The forum concluded with a discussion on economic diversification, featuring CEOs from major Omani companies. They outlined key projects aimed at enhancing employment, Omanisation efforts, and digital transformation in various sectors.
The event underscored the government’s dedication to engaging with citizens and stakeholders in shaping the nation’s cultural, economic, and social future.
