Apple Unveils iPhone 16e, an Affordable Alternative to Premium Models
Oman Horizon Bulletin

MUSCAT, 20 Feb: Apple is expanding its iPhone lineup with the introduction of the iPhone 16e, a budget-friendly addition to the iPhone 16 series that promises high-end features at a more affordable price.
The iPhone 16e will be available for pre-order starting Friday, with its official launch set for February 28. Apple aims to position this model as a cost-effective alternative to the standard iPhone 16, offering advanced technology without a premium price tag.
Premium Features at a Competitive Price
Despite its lower cost, the iPhone 16e retains several flagship-level specifications, including:
- A18 chip for powerful performance
- 6.1-inch display with crisp visuals
- 48MP camera supporting 4K video recording at 60fps
- Apple Intelligence, the company’s latest AI-powered technology to enhance text, image creation, and messaging
Pricing and Battery Performance
Apple has priced the iPhone 16e at:
- $599 for 128GB
- $699 for 256GB
- $899 for 512GB
The battery life of the iPhone 16e is another standout feature, delivering 26 hours of video playback—four hours more than the iPhone 16 and second only to the iPhone 16 Pro Max. With USB-C charging, users can expect faster and more efficient charging.

A New Category of Affordable iPhones
Unlike the iPhone SE series, which traditionally served as Apple’s budget offering, the iPhone 16e introduces a new category of affordable iPhones without making significant compromises on performance or design. It will be available in two classic colors—black and white—marking a departure from Apple’s usual vibrant color palette.
Apple’s Strategy Amid Market Challenges
Apple’s latest launch comes amid financial recalibrations following iPhone sales of $69.1 billion last quarter—$2 billion below Wall Street projections. The company has also faced increasing competition in China, where revenue dropped by $2.4 billion due to rising market pressure from brands like Huawei and Xiaomi.
Despite these hurdles, Apple remains strong, reporting 4% year-over-year revenue growth and a 10% increase in net profit. The introduction of the iPhone 16e is seen as a strategic move to expand Apple’s customer base by offering an affordable yet powerful alternative in its latest iPhone lineup.
