Oman Horizon Bulletin

The Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Investment Promotion has announced a new program to enhance the contribution of Omani industries to the national economy as the country commemorates its 54th National Day.

MUSCAT: By strengthening local content, empowering suppliers and manufacturers, and promoting Omani products, the “Local Content Development Plan,” also known as “Tasne’a,” seeks to advance the industrial sector.

In line with the country’s larger objectives of economic diversification and sustainability, the plan aims to boost the share of Omani-made goods and services in both local and foreign markets.

The significance of the industrial sector was underlined by H.E. Dr. Saleh bin Saeed Masan, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Investment Promotion for Commerce and Industry. He pointed out that by the end of August 2024, Oman’s exports of non-oil commodities were RO 4.38 billion. This demonstrates the sector’s expanding contribution to Oman’s attempts at economic diversification. In addition to strengthening the goal of “Manufacturing by Omanis, for Omanis,” the Local Content Development Plan is anticipated to empower Omani workers in the industrial sector, support local supply chains, and open up new prospects for Omani manufacturers.
