A new chapter in Oman’s ambitious space program began as the Sultanate’s flag was flown into space by the OL-1, the country’s first AI-powered satellite.
MUSCAT : The satellite, which is part of a broader initiative by Lens Oman company, combines cutting-edge AI technology with advanced optical capabilities for remote sensing and Earth observation.
In a stunning reveal, Lens Oman shared a breathtaking video captured by OL-1’s 360-degree camera, showcasing the mesmerizing dance of the aurora borealis as seen from space.
“Witness the breathtaking beauty of the aurora from Oman’s first AI-powered satellite,” the post read, symbolising the nation’s commitment to space innovation and sustainable development. The awe-inspiring visuals underscore Oman’s growing role in global space technology and exploration.
The satellite, officially registered with the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), is the first of several planned missions by Oman in the coming years. OL-1’s remote sensing capabilities will contribute valuable insights into climate change, resource management, and global sustainability.
