E-commerce soars over the festival season, with Amazon recording 140 crore visits.

Delhi, New Delhi: Online customer lines have increased during the festival season, which coincides with sales on e-commerce platforms. According to a press statement from e-commerce site Amazon India, the Amazon Great Indian Festival 2024 saw 140 crore visitors, the most ever.
The e-commerce behemoth also revealed that over 85% of all platform users were from non-metropolitan areas.

Customers have access to over 25,000 new products from leading brands in a variety of categories, including computers, TVs, smartphones, fashion and cosmetics, home décor, appliances, furniture, and consumables, during the first 24 hours of Prime Early Access for AGIF 2024, which began on September 27.

In addition to setting new records for seller success, AGIF 2024 saw a 70% rise in sellers reaching one crore in sales over the previous year.

Over 3 crore things were delivered to Prime members throughout India the same or next day, a startling 26% rise from the year before, as the online marketplace strengthened its fast delivery capabilities.

Compared to the previous year, AGIF ’24 saw a 70% increase in merchants who exceeded Rs 1 crore in sales. During the event, small and medium-sized enterprises, including women entrepreneurs, weavers, and artisans, sold more than 1,000 items every minute.

According to the company, Amazon India saw a travel booking bonanza, with hotel reservations soaring by 60% year over year and flight tickets increasing by 20%.

According to the firm, 5G smartphones had a huge increase in the budget sector (less than Rs 10,000) during the platform’s sale, with over one-third of the market, thanks to the large selection from leading brands like Realme, iQOO, and Xiaomi.

Overall, there was a 30% YoY growth in demand for laptops, both gaming and non-gaming.
Demand for the newest 13th Gen i3, i5, and i7 Intel-powered laptops among non-gaming laptop users increased by up to 10X year over year. Amazon saw a 55 percent YoY surge in demand for high-end Intel i7 series gaming laptops.

According to the firm, 1 in 5 consumers purchased a smart gadget, such as a smart socket, lightbulb, or camera, together with an Echo Smart Speaker, demonstrating the significant savings that customers experienced on Alexa smart home combos.

The business found that over 70% of premium smartphone purchases came from Tier 2 and beyond cities. Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities accounted for almost half of all TV purchases. The company saw a 25% increase in the demand for major appliances from tier 2 cities, with consumers favoring refrigerators and air conditioners.

According to Amazon India, over 60% of new Amazon customers from Tier 2 cities and lower made fashion and beauty purchases, while over 50% of orders for these products originated from Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities.

Benefits like free delivery, promotions, and simple returns drove over 60% of the new customer demand in the Home and Kitchen category from Tier 2 and Tier 3 locations, the business reported in the announcement.
