The OCCI delegation from Oman investigates potential prospects in China.

26 company executives and owners from a range of industries made an official visit to Guangzhou, People’s Republic of China, as part of a delegation from the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI).

GUANGZHOU: Under the direction of Naif bin Hamed Fadhel, Chairman of the OCCI’s Dhofar Branch, the delegation seeks to strengthen economic ties and pave the way for advanced technology collaborations between China and Oman.

On the delegation’s itinerary is a visit to the well-known Canton Fair, where Omani officials will get a close-up look at the newest goods and innovations from a variety of sectors. Along with the fair, the group will tour Huawei’s headquarters and several specialized facilities to learn more about China’s industrial developments and to discuss the possibility of forming partnerships in innovative fields.

Noting the desire to invest this visit to explore available opportunities and learn about advanced technologies that can enhance promising economic sectors in the Sultanate of Oman, Fadhel said, “The visit aims to open new horizons for trade and economic cooperation, especially with the Sultanate of Oman and China’s ongoing growth of relations in various fields.”

Supporting small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) in Oman is another area of emphasis for the delegation. The Authority for Small and Medium Enterprises Development’s Hamad bin Salem Al Batahri highlighted the trip’s contribution to SMEs’ empowerment. “The Authority is eager to offer opportunities to improve skills and fortify relations with international markets, and this visit is an opportunity to promote small and medium firms by obtaining new experiences, particularly in the fields of technical innovation and manufacturing.” Al Batahri clarified that it is anticipated that this visit will help promote several creative, ground-breaking projects aimed at boosting the Omani economy.
