Ruben Amorim becomes the new head coach of Manchester United.

Oman Horizon Bulletin

Ruben Amorim has been named the next head coach of Manchester United’s men’s first team.

LONDON: Amorim, 39, who is presently leading Sporting CP, will formally assume leadership at Old Trafford on November 11 following his departure from the Portuguese team.

After concluding a €11 million compensation agreement with Sporting CP, Manchester United officially announced the hiring of Ruben Amorim as head coach. Amorim’s deal, which expires in June 2027 with a one-year extension option, represents a strategic change for the team as it looks to start again under the direction of one of the most talented young managers in Europe.

Amorim retired from playing in 2017 after serving as a midfielder for Benfica and the Portuguese national team. With Braga, he started his managerial career in 2019 and immediately became well-known for his tactical skills. Two Primeira Liga titles and three Taca da Liga trophies are among his accomplishments at Sporting CP, which he joined in 2020, making him a highly sought-after coach in European sport.

Amorim will make his United management debut on November 24 against Ipswich Town, taking Erik ten Hag’s place. Amorim, a former teammate of Cristiano Ronaldo, is anticipated to contribute a new chapter to United’s history due to his strong Portuguese football ties.
