Muscat: The volume of trade between Oman and Algeria has increased significantly, reaching RO 37.9 million (98.4 million USD) by the middle of 2024. This exchange is dominated by Omani exports, which are worth RO 37.3 million, while Algerian imports into Oman are RO 509,272. Iron ores, aluminum wires, and polyethylene terephthalate are among the main exports from Oman, while the top imports from Algeria are ship fuel oils, chocolate, and biscuits.
In addition to trade, Algeria is a major investment partner of Oman, with 262 registered Omani-Algerian businesses contributing a total of about RO 6.75 million. These investments cover everything from professional services and education to auto repair and building.
Over the years, strategic agreements pertaining to taxation, air transportation, and cultural and educational collaboration have established a solid basis for this collaboration. Significantly, Algeria’s industrial and agricultural expansion has been spurred by changes implemented in 2023, offering Oman more chances to cooperate in the manufacturing and agriculture sectors.
