MUSCAT : Oman Tourism Development Company (OMRAN Group) celebrated the graduation of participants from the Global Travel and Tourism Partnership (GTTP) program, reflecting the Group’s commitment to empowering the next generation of Omani talent. This initiative is part of its #IAmTourism strategy to develop a skilled national workforce for the tourism sector.
The program stands as a testament to OMRAN Group’s dedication to nurturing homegrown talent, helping young Omanis unlock their potential and inspiring them to contribute to the nation’s tourism sector development. The program, initiated in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and the Global Travel and Tourism Partnership, provided extracurricular activities for 10th and 11th grade students, offering them hands-on experience and invaluable insights into the world of tourism.
Sheikh Yaqoob bin Saif Al-Shehaimi, Director-General of the Career Guidance and Student Counseling Center at the Ministry of Education, stated: “The tourism sector is a key component of Oman Vision 2040. This program is one of the significant initiatives that has contributed to equipping Omani students with essential skills in the tourism and hospitality sector. Through a comprehensive system of educational and training programs delivered by a world-renowned educational institution, a number of school students have benefited from this program under the supervision of the Career Guidance and Student Counseling Center. 345 students from the governorates of Muscat and South Al Batinah participated in the program. A number of participating students achieved top rankings in the digital photography competition and the best school research project competition. The winning research project will be presented at the World Tourism Organization conference, scheduled to be held in Spain next November.”
We are thrilled to celebrate the graduation of the first batch of this program, which was developed to provide school students with valuable insights into the tourism industry,” said Dr. Salim Al Flaiti, Group Head of Business Partners at OMRAN Group. “I commend the dedication of both the students and the career guidance specialists, whose efforts were the cornerstone of the program’s success. Their commitment inspires us to continue enriching the learning journey for future batches.
Ms. Ann Loiter, CEO of the Global Travel and Tourism Partnership, remarked, ‘We are delighted to have graduated the first batch of this program in Oman. We will continue to collaborate with OMRAN Group and the Ministry of Education to provide future students with the skills necessary to thrive in the tourism industry, thereby contributing to the growth and success of Oman’s tourism sector.
At the ceremony, Majid Ali Al Bahri, a student from Wadi Bani Kharus School, a GTTP graduate, said: “I am pleased to participate in this eye-opening program, which made me understand the nature of the tourism sector. I’m leaving this program with a clear sense of direction and excitement for the road ahead.”

The GTTP serves as one of the educational arms of the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC). With its e-learning platform, the GTTP boasts over 500,000 participants from more than 15 countries worldwide, contributing significantly to the global tourism industry.
