ISLAMABAD: On Monday, Palestinian medical students arrived in Lahore to finish their education, and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif welcomed them.

Palestinian medical students are cordially invited to Pakistan to finish their studies. The prime minister stated on his X timeline, “Their presence further deepens the links of solidarity between our peoples.”
He reiterated that Pakistan stood firmly with the people of Palestine in support of their inalienable rights to education, health and a brighter future.
Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar also claimed that the first batch of Palestinian students landed in Lahore and from Wednesday, additional students would visit Islamabad.
He said that 190 students in all would be coming to Pakistan to study medicine.
The Pakistani government had declared in July that, for humanitarian reasons, medical students from Gaza would be permitted to finish their studies in Pakistan.
The decision was made to enable Gaza students to continue the final years of their medical education in the fields of cardiology, orthopedics, oncology, pediatrics and surgery to address critical needs in Gaza’s health care system.
