3:21pm : Three detainees were successfully saved after their vehicle was swept away by rising waters in Sur Wadi. The swift actions of the Search and Rescue Sector ensured that all three individuals who were stranded in the Al-Salimiya Wadi in the Wilayat of Sur were retrieved safely and are reported to be in good condition.
3:11pm : The South Al Sharqiyah Governorate is experiencing the ongoing effects of a tropical depression
Oman is experiencing significant weather changes due to the ongoing effects of a tropical depression.
The South Al Sharqiyah Governorate is under the influence of thick clouds and varying rainfall, with some areas facing heavy downpours. Meanwhile, scattered rainfall is also being reported across other governorates.
Authorities urge the public to exercise caution, especially in areas prone to flooding, as the flow of valleys and ravines may become hazardous.
3:07pm : The Royal Oman Police (ROP) has reported the overflow of Wadi Tawi Aisha in the Wilayat of Al Kamil and Al Wafi and Wadi Shia in the Wilayat of Sur, which has resulted in traffic being cut off.
The ROP is urging everyone to be careful and not risk crossing valleys.
11:50am: The Sultan’s Armed Forces stressed the need to harness all capabilities and capacities to deal with this weather condition and provide various forms of support and assistance to government agencies and other sectors within the framework of the National Emergency Management Committee’s plan.
11:40 am: Currently, the internal road connecting the Wilayat of Jaalan Bani Bu Ali, specifically the Al-Jawabi to Al-Suwaih route, has been cut off due to the flow of Wadi Sal.
11:20am: The latest satellite images show the continued flow of rain clouds and chances of varying intensity of rain falling on parts of the governorates of South Al Sharqiyah, Al Wusta, Muscat, and parts of North Al Sharqiyah and Al Dakhiliyah.
10:50 am: As per the update, a total of six outages have been reported in the region.
Five of these outages have been successfully addressed in the wilayats of Sur, Jaalan Bani Bu Hassan, and Jaalan Bani Bu Ali. Additionally, one outage is currently being handled in the wilayats of Dima and Al Tayyin.
10:22am: Due to the heavy rainfall, the wadi is currently flowing, obstructing traffic in the area.
The ROP is urging caution and advising public to avoid crossing the flooded valleys.
10:10 am: Radar and satellite outputs show the continued flow of rain clouds and rainfall of varying intensity over parts of the governorates of South Al Sharqiyah, Al Wusta, Muscat and parts of North Al Sharqiyah,” states the met office report.
9:50 am: Following closely, the Wilayat of Jalan Bani Bu Ali received 26 mm of rain, while the Wilayat of Al Jazir recorded 4 mm.
