Muscat – Deputed by His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, H H Sayyid Asaad bin Tarik al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for International Relations and Cooperation Affairs and Personal Representative of His Majesty the Sultan, will head to the Kingdom of Belgium on Tuesday to lead Oman’s delegation in the first EU-Gulf Cooperation Council summit.
To be held in Brussels, the summit will be co-chaired by the President of the European Council, Charles Michel, and the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al Thani, as the rotating President of the GCC.
H H Sayyid Asaad will be accompanied by an official delegation comprising H E Sayyid Badr bin Hamad al Busaidi, Foreign Minister; H E Qais bin Mohammed al Yousef, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion; H E Ruwa bint Issa al Zadjali, Ambassador of Oman to Belgium and Head of Mission to the European Union; and other officials from the foreign ministry and Sayyid Asaad’s Office.
The summit is an opportunity for the EU to develop a closer partnership with the GCC member states, who are geostrategic partners at a time of challenging geopolitical circumstances.
